Battle Reenactment
Annual parade and battle in Derby
The Jacobite army will enter will march from the Derby Council House, up East Street, then down St Peters Street, across the Market Place and up Irongate, where they will forcibly ‘recruit’ Derby’s Mayor. Their path will be blocked on Cathedral Green by redcoat soldiers hoping to end this civil war and Prince Charlie’s ambitions. After the defeat of the Prince’s forces, wreaths will be laid at the statue of Bonnie Prince Charlie, in memory of all those who fought. Then, just as the Prince did in 1745, the soldiers will retire to Derby Cathedral for a short service.
