Derbyshire Open Arts at Banks Mill

Exhibition; Open Studios
Visit Banks Mill Studios during the popular Derbyshire Open Arts festival on 26, 27 and 28 May to meet nine artists, designers and makers all under one roof. You can meet our artists in their working studios and buy or commission original artwork and handmade products direct from the artists themselves.

With free entry the studios will be open from 10am-5pm each day and work on show will include fine art, contemporary glass art, ceramics, magazine collage art, mixed media art, textiles, jewellery and upcycled garments.

Free car parking can be found at the Enterprise Centre, just a minutes’ walk from Banks Mill along with pay and display on street parking in the surrounding area.

Artists showing at Banks Mill this year are:

Kirstie Adamson – Magazine Collage Artist
Kirstie is a magazine collage artist, who doesn't use any imagery from the magazines but instead uses the colours and textures that she finds as an alternative to paint.

Susan Bedford - Mixed Media Artist
Susan produces original artworks and products inspired by colours, shapes and textures in natural and manmade environments. Susan’s range includes one-off wall art, signed prints and cards, and she has also developed a range of textile jewellery employing the same techniques she uses in her artwork.

Barbara Colbert - Charcoal Drawing
Barbara produces charcoal, pen and ink drawings, often with the addition of precious metal leaf. The subject matter is of wildlife and natural forms in the local landscape. She is especially interested in the symbolism and mythology connected with animals and birds.

Stevie Davies - Contemporary Fused Glass
By manipulating the processes of heat and chemistry on glass and metals, Stevie produces a range of jewellery and accessories full of colour and texture. Her dichroic jewellery, home accessories, sculptures and wall art will be on show and demonstrations of techniques and workshops will take place during the weekend.

Kim Fowler – Artist and Illustration
Kim is a multi-disciplined artist and illustrator working in pen, paint, and mixed media, who also sells her designs on jewellery and a selection of merchandise.
