MEMBER: Ava Hunt Theatre

Ava Hunt Theatre is an arts in education charitable organisation specialising in delivering high quality theatre performances, drama workshops and training for children, young people and communities primarily in Derbyshire.

The company is regularly funded by Arts Council England and works with a wide range of associate artists to create exciting, educational experiences in formal and informal educational settings.

Ava Hunt has been based in the East Midlands for 30 years having worked with many of the leading arts organisations : Nottingham Playhouse, Derby Theatre, Buxton Opera House, Junction Arts, New Perspectives, Derbyshire libraries, Broadway Cinema, Nottinghamshire County Arts, Buxton Festival and Wirksworth Festival.

For the last ten years we have been working closely with Amnesty International Wirksworth Branch creating theatre that explores issues around human rights using verbatim theatre, namely: "I'm No Hero", "Acting Alone", in 2019 "Journeys of Destiny" a piece for primary schools about the true story of a young Syrian refugee.

We are currently working in partnership with Sinfonia Viva and Derbyshire Virtual School co-creating a new performance piece with looked after children and unaccompanied asylum seekers in April 2020. We will be delivering other projects for young people for Natoinal Refugee Week. Please visit our website for booking details.
