The Addams Family – The Musical Auditions - New Mills and District AODS

New Mills Art Theatre are staging the musical ‘The Addams Family’ from 14 to 17 November and casting the show starts with a Get-Together at The Art Theatre, Jodrell Street, New Mills, SK22 3HJ, on Wednesday, 14 March at 8.00pm.  Everyone is welcome to come along and meet the production team led by Director, David Carlile, who will talk about the show, characters, music and answer any questions you may have about all aspects of the production.  You can also pick up audition pieces for principal parts or chorus.  Auditions will be held on Sunday May 13th, from 10am onwards.

There are a large number of principal musical parts in the show, age range from around 16 to 102, some with minor singing and dancing, and straight acting roles.  The Production Team will also be looking for an ensemble of singers/actors and dancers to be ‘The Ancestors’, ‘Servants’ and ‘Bizarre-distant relatives’.

In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams.  Nonetheless, a grave crisis is brewing. It is every father’s worst nightmare but in reverse. Daughter Wednesday, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a “normal” young man, Lucas Beineke, from a quite respectable family—not even remotely fiendish! Worse, the romance seems to have turned the steadfastly gloomy Addams girl downright cheery, leaving her family very worried and distressed. Comic chaos reigns when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his parents so they can become better acquainted with the entire Addams family.  In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Available roles: Gomez Addams, Morticia Addams, Uncle Fester, Wednesday Addams, Grandmamma, Pugsley Addams, Lurch, Mal Beineke, Alice Beineke, Lucas Beineke, The Ancestors (cameo roles are available)
