Akeim Toussaint Buck presents Windows of Displacement at Déda

Akeim Toussaint Buck aka Toussaint To Move brings a performance to Derby that addresses issues surrounding migration, home, borders and identity in his new solo dance theatre show: Windows of Displacement.

Déda are proud to introduce an emerging artist with an electric performance that explores crucial contemporary issues through dance, song and spoken word to explore personal narratives in an accessible, thought-provoking and immensely uplifting style.

Windows of Displacement is a storytelling piece that creates a captivating journey of the past, present and the future of humanity with themes of imperialism, colonialism and displacement.

Akeim Toussaint Buck draws on his own experiences of being born in Jamaica and living in the UK. Akeim highlights historical, political and socio-economic issues such as the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the current mining and exploitation of the Congo.

Windows of Displacement takes us on a journey to look at a powerful story of how human lives can become entangled in the politics of power and oppression.

Featuring acting, beat-boxing, creative writing, dance, film and poetry, Windows of Displacement provokes the audience to actively engage and reflect on reality, with a humanitarian intention.
