Kaipo Che!
Residency announcement

We are glad to announce the names of two artists selected for Kaipo che! Residency:

Caroline Mackenzie

Caroline Mackenzie is a British based sculptor, graduated from the Royal College of
Art in 2016. Her theatrical artistic practice, which includes sculpture, installation, performance and moving image, explores the conceptual aesthetic of suspension. This is investigated through a physical play with gravity, as well as the metaphorical notion of creating a suspended disbelief within the audience.

Jackie Berridge

Jackie Berridge is a painter based in the East Midlands. She is interested in human behaviour, in particular the subtle nuances of body language which often reveal feelings of vulnerability, power or indifference. Her new work  focuses on the domestic environment using home decor as a means of human expression, providing props and clues for the viewer to interpret.

October stories
Artcore trip to Wakefield

On Monday 29th October the Artcore staff visited Wakefield to see The Art House and The Hepworth. At Art House we met the CEO, Sydney Thornbury, and had a tour of the studios and exhibition space. We then saw The Sculpture Prize at the Hepworth before returning to Artcore. It was a great trip and we all learned a lot about how the institutions are run.

This is Derby

Over the half term weekends we toured the city with This is Derby taking part in music, sport, and creative art activities. Last Sunday we were in Arboretum Park enjoying the  graffiti, urban circus acts, music performances, and performing live Rangoli art.

Mini Makers Faire

During the last weekend in October we also took part in the Derby Mini Makers Faire at the Eagle Market. Here we sold some craft items from Craftcore and led a hugely popular ceramic mug decorating activity.
