The Barging Buddhi and Other Poems - Book Launch 9 April in Derby

Debut poet Sunita Thind explores the Indian, female perspective and gives an insight into Punjabi culture in the UK today. Poetry like this is not usually visible in the mainstream which will provide an event of lush and exotic imaginings.

Drawing immensely from her dual Punjabi and UK heritage to display poems layered in dense imagery, a battle plan for the future. How to emancipate yourself from centuries of right and rituals to cast a new light on multicultural Britain.

Join the book launch for "The Barging Buddhi and Other Poems" on 9th April Thursday 2019 at the Quad Derby between 7.15-9pm.  Free entry-voluntary donations to a Ovarian Cancer Charity (as I am a survivor of this) and some Indian food bites - free on a first come-first serve basis.

"I have dabbled in many things including being a model, primary and secondary school teacher and trained as a make up artist. Make up, poetry and animals are my passion. I have recently suffered from Ovarian Cancer and am grateful I have survived it but I am not in remission yet. I love to sing and take singing lessons and have a beautiful, male Samoyed puppy named Ghost.I have had poems published in The Curlew, Eye Flash Poetry Journal, Foxglove Journal, Indigo Dreams Publishing Magazine-Sarasvati, Pulsar Poetry Ezine, Picaroon Poetry, Palewell Press, The Blue Nib and High Window Press. I do feel that my poetry is experimental, especially from a cultural point of view. I am having a book of poetry published by Black Pear Press next March. I have had a few short stories published in various literary publications like the Mechanic's Institute Review, Winamop website and New Ulster Irish ezine.

As well as being a qualified Secondary English and Primary School teacher I have taught creative writing, drama and poetry workshops to children and adults both in the UK and in China (Tianjin where I taught English as an additional language for few months).

I am also gaining experience in Performance poetry to promote my impeding book which will be published in March 2020. I have performed my poetry at 'She Speaks' Derby and Duffield Arts Festival 2019. I will be having a book launch 9th April 2019 7pm -9pm as well speaking at events Nottingham Writers Studio
