Caroline Bailey - paintings from the the Western Isles

Caroline Bailey is very a successful and highly regarded UK artist which we're delighted to be exhibiting again.

Caroline Bailey was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 1999 and has a large following both in England and Scotland. Carolines love of the sea is long standing, and goes back to her first visit to the Western Isles of Scotland more than twenty years ago. The weather and the northern light create an atmosphere which inspires her to paint her interpretation of a subject rather than accurately recording a composition. She lives and works on the Isle of sky

Caroline has had major solo exhibitions in London, Chester, Dublin, Manchester and the Cotswolds. Selected mixed exhibitions include the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.

Caroline writes, “The elements of atmosphere, light and colour are the fundamental motivators for my paintings. The places that I paint abound with all these elements and have for me a compelling emotional appeal. The Hebredian Islands continually draw me back. I am intrigued by the meeting of sea and land-whether on the deserted shores of the North Atlantic or the sea ports of the East coast.”
