Creatively supporting our communities to cope with loss and bereavement during the Coronavirus
On Thursday 13th August we held our launch event for In our Thoughts project. This year long project is supported by the mental health charity MIND. A partnership initiated by Artcore and Sahahra to support our communities to cope with Coronavirus.
We are excited to announce the the launch of Artcore Gallery's opening show post lockdown, exhibiting the work of prominent artist and sculptor, John Newling. Newling is a pioneer of public art with a social purpose and his newest show 'The Sharing Of Uncertainty' explores his ever-expanding relationship with nature and the human species.
Join us on Friday, 25th of September at 5:00 - 8:00 pm for the launch.
In August we had our first event back at Charnwood Street since reopening as we launched our new project 'In Our Thoughts.' This was a wonderful opportunity to meet new volunteers as well as introduce the project through Zoom to local coordinators. Staff and volunteers have also been back in the office, it's been lovely to actually see people in person, although it has been enjoyable to see everyones houses and their pets through zoom.
'Re-awaken'
Our current exhibition (and frame of mind!)
When the doors closed, it felt like time stood still....
Well, now we are reopen and delighted to bring you a refreshed look at a range of contemporary artworks from our selected artists.
We are delighted to let you know that 15 further Walking Together commemorative figures have recently been installed to continue the Markham Vale mining memorial. We have moved our mailing list for the project into mailchimp due to increased interest and will be sending occasional updates out. We hope that you are happy for us to keep in touch in this way, but if you wish to unsubscribe you can do this at any time via the link at the bottom of the page.
Sadly, the physical event this year has been cancelled but we will be holding Belper Arts Trail Online instead over the same weekend (August 30th and 31st) with the aim of making this digital experience as close to the real thing as we can.
Additionally, we will be hosting a ‘shop’ facility for artists so that they can hopefully make some sales in these troubled times for the creative industries. This will be open for the event and also continue in place until Christmas.

An impending operation has forced celebrated performer and festival patron John Tams to bow out of this year’s Derby Folk Festival at Home, meaning a change to the line-up.
This year’s live event, due to take place between 2 and 4 October, has been reinvented as four three-hour virtual concerts filmed and recorded in advance, available to watch online over the same weekend and for a week afterwards.
Community groups, clubs and charities that work with young people are being invited by us to apply for a share of £220,000.
