HILL Project UK

As part of this years Wirksworth Festival Performance Programme, Town Hall Events, on
Thursday the 20th of September, HILL, the story of One Derbyshire Hill will be re-told with a
difference! HILL, was exhibited at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery earlier this year, attracting
thousands of visitors in record breaking numbers. Because of this response, the entire story of a
working Derbyshire Hill is moving to London Town early next year to be exhibited at the
Copeland Gallery in Peckham, opening on the 21st of February 2019. But now is your chance to

GLORIOUS GLASS!

Dawn Turner is an Ilkeston based artist who was brought up in, and has strong family ties to, the area. She works with local schools and community groups, although her studio practice is primarily in glass.

Dawn first explored the technique of fusing about twelve years ago and has been hooked on glass ever since. She loves to share her enthusiasm for glass through making, exhibiting, learning and teaching.

The Duffield Arts Festival is now in its third year and is going from strength to strength. The objectives are clear and remain the same as they have from the outset, these are, to:

An Evening with Derbyshire Crime Writer Sarah Ward

The Derby Conference Centre to help people celebrate Christmas in style with two more dates for its 1920s themed Christmas Parties

Christmas plans are already underway at The Derby Conference Centre. By popular demand, the Centre is excited to be taking Christmas party bookings for the first time since 2015, and to celebrate, plans to transport guests back to the 1920s in their Art Deco style building for a 1920s extravaganza.

The Derby Conference Centre first announced six 1920s nights in May and the parties quickly generated a lot of interest on social media, resulting in the six initial dates being completely sold-out!

Derbyshire Patient Watchdog Shortlisted For National Award

Healthwatch Derbyshire, the independent consumer watchdog for health and social care services in the county, has been shortlisted for a national award in recognition of how it involves volunteers and other people in its work.

The awards are run by national body Healthwatch England to showcase the achievements of the UK-wide network of organisations in ensuring health and social care services meet the needs of local communities and that people’s views are heard.

Folk Inspired Classical Music Concert Features In Derby Folk Festival

Derby-based Sinfonia Viva – the East Midlands’ only professional orchestra – will perform at this year’s Derby Folk Festival with a classical music programme inspired by folk heritage.

‘Forever Folk’ at the Guildhall Theatre on Friday October 5 at 7.30pm will be directed by Orchestra Leader and Principal Violin Benedict Holland.

The toe-tapping programme starts with the raw energy of Bartok’s ‘Romanian Dances’ – inspired by the traditional music played in villages across Transylvania which the composer used to record on wax cylinders.
