MAWKIN DOWN AMONG THE DEAD MEN UK TOUR

"Your new Folk Festival favourites" The Guardian

Folk rebels Mawkin will be embarking on a 12 date tour in November 2017 that will showcase their brand new album ‘Down Among the Dead Men’. The tour starts at the Apex theatre in Bury St Edmunds on the 8th of November before the band spend the next three weeks on the road previewing their new album finishing at the Chapel Arts Centre in Bath on the 26th of November.

Stroppy Workshoppy Fun with Babbling Vagabonds

Little princes and princesses can look forward to plenty of fun during the October half term with the Babbling Vagabonds. The theatre company will be holding Stroppy Workshoppy workshops from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 October at two different locations in the city.

Family Fun in October Half Term

In Derby are preparing for a busy half term this October, with lots of offer for everybody to enjoy around the city. From leisure activities to craft projects and more, there’s plenty to keep families busy and entertained! The half term will run from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 October.

The Project

We would like to Introduce you to our new venture – the Derwent  Valley Art Crawl Guide for 2018

This Guide is to be an annual printed publication which will be distributed throughout Derbyshire in the Derbyarts info tourist boxes, Tourist Information Centres and other selected tourist locations.  It is envisaged that the publication will be in the form of a 12 page DL sized folded leaflet.   We currently estimate producing 10,000 leaflets and for them to be in place by the beginning of 2018 and to be refreshed if necessary.

Sister Mary Lazarus Claims Nun of the Match Award

Cast from Sister Act-The Musical played New Mills FC Ladies in a 15-minute game in front of an enthusiastic crowd at New Mills Football club.  This is part of their 'Nun Fun' challenges in the run up to their performances on 15-18 November at New Mills Art Theatre. The Nuns put up a good defence despite a 0-1 win for New Mills Ladies.

City Businessmen Complete Cycle Challenge

Four Derby businessmen have raised more than £5,000 for a leading autism charity after cycling 220 miles non-stop from Manchester to London in 17 hours.

Mark Richardson from BB&J Commercial, Karl Paling from Stimulating Minds design agency, Mark Sheldrick from Mark Douglas Industrial Supplies and wealth management consultant James Kingswood from St James Place are all keen cyclists and regularly train together.

They joined nearly 200 other riders, including Olympian Sir Bradley Wiggins, in the annual  Manchester to London challenge.
