Derbyshire Producers Invited To Exhibit At Chatsworth Country Fair

Producers, artisans and craftspeople based in Derbyshire are invited to showcase, promote and sell their products to thousands of visitors at Chatsworth Country Fair this summer.

Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council, is inviting local producers to apply for a place in the ‘Derbyshire Makers’ Marketplace’ at one of England’s most spectacular annual outdoor celebrations.

The Old Lock Up Gallery Open Event

This year already there have been lots of exciting events at The Old Lock Up Gallery, including exhibiting artists, sales of their work and the beautiful shows. And there’s so much still to unfold here at the gallery this year.

At the moment  there is the 2nd artist in residence of 2023 - Tansy Lee Moir - she’s spent almost a week working in the space and it’s so good to see her using the opportunity to it’s fullest. Tansy’s beautiful treescapes will be featured in the next 2 shows: The first of which is our annual Open - OPEN 2023.

Leabrooks’ butcher Owen Taylor wins top accolades at national craft butchery awards

 

 

Leabrooks butcher, Owen Taylor & Sons, has scooped national awards for its Steak & Ale and Pork Pies.

 

Both pies won their respective categories (Best Steak Pie and Best Pork Pie) at this year’s Smithfield Awards, organised by the Q Guild of Butchers and widely recognised as the meat trade’s most high profile and challenging product evaluation.

 

PEAK DISTRICT & DERBYSHIRE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN VISITENGLAND AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE


Five tourism businesses from the Peak District and Derbyshire have reached the finals of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence where they will compete for the highest accolades in English tourism.

Great British Car Journey, Wildhive Callow Hall, The Blind Bull, Pure Outdoor and myGuidedWalks have been shortlisted for national glory after winning gold at the 2023 Peak District & Derbyshire Tourism Awards earlier this year.

Come on a guided tour and find out about the history of Derby. A Cathedral city in the centre of England, lying on the River Derwent, rich in history, culture and diversity. A story of Romans, Vikings and onto the 18th century Enlightenment, Derby became noted for fine ceramics, industry and engineering. A centre of the British railway industry, it is the home of iconic Rolls Royce and the Toyota car assembly plant. Derby located at the start of the UNESCO Derwent Valley World Heritage site, hosts the world’s first factory, now the Museum of Making.

Four contemporary artists awarded residencies at LEVEL Centre

Since its launch in 2021 the Level Residency Lab, with support from Arts Council England, has supported 24 professional artists who either identify as disabled or whose work has access at its heart. The selected artists, all with ambitious ideas that strengthen Level’s charitable mission to ‘Celebrate the Art that Difference Makes’, will continue to explore contemporary practice in rural Derbyshire. 

Now part of their year-round programme, Level are excited to introduce the new cohort of residency artists from across the England who have been awarded a residency:
