It Takes A Region To Raise An Artist, Event in Wirksworth 12 February

In February and March, at a series of events across the region, CVAN EM Director Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham will present the findings from "It Takes A Region To Raise An Artist", research commissioned in 2019 with CAMEo – the University of Leicester’s Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies – into the East Midlands’ visual arts ecology.

Derby strategy receives FT recognition

Derby has been named third best small European city 2020/21 for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) strategy in the prestigious Financial Times' fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future 2020/21 rankings.

Derby is one of only two UK cities to make the top ten, behind Reykjavik, Iceland and Debrechen, Hungary, having competed with cities across Europe.

Exhibition celebrating Derbyshire artists, past and present, opens at Derby Museums

From February 14th Derby Museums is inviting people to explore the making process and artistic progression of both modernist sculptor Ronald Pope and seven artists who have all won the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award and worked in Derbyshire to create work inspired by its landscape and people through two new linked exhibitions – Process and Progress.

Tideswell Community Players - performing for 90 years

We thought you'd like to know that on 25th and 26th February in 1930 Tideswell Community Players first trod the boards with the comedy drama and West End hit, Ambrose Applejohn's Adventure, by Walter Hackett.

Starring writer, radio dramatist and Great Hucklow theatre owner, L Du Garde Peach in the title role (centre rear in picture) and with many Tideswell people in the cast, it was a two night success at The Oddfellows Hall.

Funny Wonders activities 2020

Changing Faces project - creative workshops for 11-18yr olds in Buxton who are facing difficulties re-starting on Tuesday 25th February, 3.30pm-5pm at the Green Man Gallery. Participants and team members needed - leaflets attached for further information. #ChangingFaces

Sugar rush for doughnuts sees Project D expand to feed demand

Derby’s growing taste for delicious doughnuts is helping a city company expand across the region after its tasty treats were enjoyed by Love Island contestants, fashionistas and even members of the Royal family.

Project D, whose bright pink flagship outlet is based in the Intu Centre, says they have sold more of their handcrafted doughnuts than they could ever have imagined in the first 12 months of trading - serving an incredible 100 doughnuts every hour in December.
