Cabaret with a twist (or should that be pinch) coming to South Normanton and Clay Cross

A man inside a giant balloon, the UK’s fastest magician and a juggler that juggles with almost anything, together with some tasty grub and the choice of how much to pay for a ticket is the essence of two new events coming to South Normanton and Clay Cross at the end of October and beginning of November, hoping to bring local people together to shape some of the cultural happenings in their communities.

Take a look at the Erewash Festival of Light programme

Erewash Festival of Light began in 2006. The annual programme includes free festivals, events and activities marking a range of traditional and culturally diverse celebrations. For our 2019-2020 programme these will be Diwali, Christmas, Winter Solstice and Chinese New Year.
Since it began, over 20 000 people have taken part in creative workshops and public events, making artwork for festivals and displays, or simply coming along to enjoy.

Festival fan Amber is ready to go as leading lights join star cast

Preparations for this year’s Repton Literary Festival are well under way with one of the event’s biggest fans joining the team.  Local graduate Amber Wood (22) is one of a host of volunteers working to make this year’s event an even greater success.

In 2018, the first Repton Literary Festival was created and enjoyed by many. In October 2019, it's back - bigger and better, inspiring a new generation of writers and bringing engaging speakers to this wonderful village.

Says Amber, who lives in Newton Solney:

Homeless Sunday 13th October 2019

Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

We hope you can join us for Homeless Sunday 2019 - a time to pray, reflect and plan practical action on homelessness.

About this Event

Darker evenings – not a problem, there’s plenty to do indoors!

Inside is the place to be when the rain hits, the temperature drops and it’s dark when you leave work!

The bright lights of Derby Arena beckon for the outdoor cyclists who still want to get their pedalling fix without the need for their bike lights, shoe covers and waterproofs. Getting on the track is so easy thanks to the 4-step accreditation process where a coach will take you from beginner to a wannabe Jason or Laura Kenney!
