Award-winning Croots Farm Shop has been shortlisted in The Great British Food Awards 2018 for four of its products.

Previously the popular Derbyshire farm shop was highly commended in the 2016 Great British Food Awards for its homemade Derbyshire Pasty and in the 2015 awards the Croots homemade Bakewell Tart was crowned the overall winner in the sweet bakes category – flying the flag for one of Derbyshire’s famous food products.

Run by national magazine Great British Food, the awards this year had an unprecedented number of entries.

These are some of the subjects being discussed at the 5th Arkwright Society’s Industrial Revolution Conference taking place on Saturday 29 September 2018.  Leading experts on the Industrial Revolution will join us at the iconic Cromford Mills to give their views on the time when Britain changed dramatically, and what this meant for all workers.

On Saturday 29^th September, at 7.00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, The Green, Swanwick, DE55 1AN, Cwmbrân Male Choir shares the stage with the Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir and guest Tenor, Jason Darnel, in a concert arranged to support the Poppy Appeal.

Final preparations are being made as Wirksworth Festival 2018 gets underway 7 – 23 September. Now in its 24^th year, the Festival is an annual two-week celebration of contemporary art, performance, music and the community in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales.

This year’s Festival is very much about home-grown talent, recognising the huge pool of talent that resides in this part of the country; they are joined by some great artists and performers from across the country and abroad.

A new display at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery will commemorate the victims of a massacre in Derbyshire 2,600 years ago.

The multi-sensory exhibition, called Lullaby of the Larks, has been created by composer Amanda Johnson and artist Richard Johnson during their 2-year artistic residency at our only museum and art gallery.
