Cheque Presentation Marks Launch of Wathall’s Wish Campaign

Family-owned funeral directors, Wathall’s, have launched a new community support pledge with the presentation a giant cheque to Derby charity Safe and Sound.

Wathall’s Wish will support a different charity every month over the coming year either with money, volunteering or donations of goods and services.  The common theme is that all these charities provide support for people at difficult times in their lives.

Ambassadors Fly The Flag For Safe and Sound

A group of high-profile local people have pledged their support for Derby-based charity Safe and Sound as it forges ahead with its expansion plans.

Derbyshire Chief Constable Peter Goodman, former Rams captain Shaun Barker, BAFTA winning actor Molly Windsor and business owner Amanda Strong are the first to join Safe and Sound’s Ambassador programme.

As well as highlighting the charity’s work amongst their own networks, they have pledged to support the charity’s Butterfly Appeal.

Sinfonia Viva Completes Sensory Music Tour With Children in Need Support

Sinfonia Viva – the professional orchestra of the East Midlands – has completed its largest Sensory Music Tour in the region as part of a three-year creative project supported by £119,265 Child in Need funding.

Musicians from Sinfonia Viva have worked on an individual basis with pupils with special educational needs at special schools in Derby, Retford and Leicester as well as with children with life-limiting conditions at Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough.

We are pleased to announce the full agenda for our annual Manufacturing and Engineering Conference.

This year’s conference will focus on the strategies, efficiencies and support available to business which will enable the creation of manufactured products in a way that reduces pollution, energy use and looks to reduce waste, whilst remaining economically viable and competitive.

remark is recruiting 10 participants to join a new visual art writers' group

remark is a collaboration between ArtReview magazine, BACKLIT gallery, Nottspoke writing collective, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, with support from Quad and Nottingham Contemporary.   While the East Midlands region has a large community of public venues, commercial galleries and artist-run and non-profit spaces, regular critical coverage of these spaces and their programmes is limited. Meanwhile, the few outlets for arts coverage limit opportunities for the professional development of young and emerging writers working in the region.
