Celebrate National Poetry Day with acclaimed poet Daljit Nagra

Celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 1 October with award-winning poet Daljit Nagra in an online event hosted by Derby Libraries with Derby Poetry Festival.

Daljit is a Forward Poetry Prize winner, the first BBC Radio 4 Poet in Residence and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His poem Singh Song! is on the curriculum for English Literature GCSE.

In a free Zoom event starting from 6.30pm to 8pm he will read selections from his many collections, and answer questions from host Anne Holloway, from Big White Shed Publishing and Writing East Midlands, and from the audience via Zoom’s chat function.

Like many city events, Derby Poetry Festival is happening online this year. As well as the event on 1 October, Derby Poetry Festival has been working with Derby Folk Festival at Home to curate and promote some of our region’s wonderful poets. The Folk Festival runs online from 2 to 4 October, and as part of its programme of fringe events, the Derby Folk Festival Facebook page will share poems from Poetry Festival’s work with the team at Derby Libraries on Sunday 4 October.

Book online at www.derbycitylibraries.eventbrite.co.uk.

Your booking will be acknowledged via email with a Zoom link to enable you to join the event on the day. For further information, contact libraries@derby.gov.uk.
