The Pye Hill and District Male Voice Choir Est:1903

Saturday 7th December 2019, 7:30 p.m.

Entrance: £6.00 for Adults and £3.00 for Children, to include light refreshments

St. Matthew’s Church, Pentrich, dates from 1175 and is a Grade 1 listed building which provides challenges and increased costs for its maintenance and all the proceeds of this concert will go direct to the building fund for the church, the concert being kindly sponsored by Clarkes Department Stores of Ripley and Belper.

St. Matthews’ Church offers an atmospheric and inviting setting for a traditional Christmas concert; but also expect in addition to this a wide range of traditional choral songs from the choir’s repertoire in the first half before getting in the mood for Christmas in the second half of the concert. The concert also includes a variety of solos.

The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir have once again had a busy year and in its last concert raised £1,016.00 for the ‘Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Choir’, singing in front of a packed St. Wilfrid’s Church, Kirkby in Ashfield, along with members of the ‘Dementia Choir’. Highlights of  next year include a tour to Torquay,  Devon, in May, concerts with the ‘Rolls Royce Ladies Choir’, The ‘Dalesmen Male Voice Choir’ and taking part in a concert for the ‘Eric Coates Society’; ‘Eric Coates’ being famous for writing the ‘Dambusters March’ and a variety of other musical scores. The choir even have bookings in 2021, including singing at its Presidents wedding, Jason Darnell, at York Minster along with the Minster Choir and other choirs.

Tickets are available from Malcolm Hill of the PH&DMVC on 07706036946 or 01773 602743, or alternatively from Val Parkes on 01773 745069, or Elizabeth Harrison on 01773 743545 from the Church; or on the door subject to availability. Malcolm will reserve tickets if you contact him.

Why not come and join the Pye Hill and District Male Voice Choir and start a new activity? We have recruited three new members in recent months, and they are loving it. It could not be easier; it’s fun, inexpensive and you will make new friends and it will put a smile on your face. Whether you are experienced or a non-experienced singer of any age, you will be made equally welcome and given every assistance. We particularly need bass singers (low voices) and tenors (high voices), but all voices are needed and welcomed.

The choir practice at the Dale Club, Jacksdale, every Monday evening at 7.30 p.m., other than Bank Holiday weeks. Music, practice CD’s, Musical Director, Accompanist and uniform are all provided for a modest membership fee. You have nothing to lose, but a great deal to gain by coming along on a Monday evening and giving it a go!

If you require any further information on joining the choir, concert bookings and arrangements, please ring Malcolm Hill on 07706036946 or 01773 602743, or visit the choirs web site on www.pyehillmvc.co.uk
