Christmas at Cromford Mills

Cromford Mills is hosting two days of festive fun for all the family with its Christmas Weekend on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10th December, 10am-4pm.

There will be donkey rides in the mill yard, a Christmas tree trail with prizes to be won, and a selection of games to play all weekend including giant games, traditional games, and Christmas themed games. There will also be face painting (11am-4pm).

If you’re feeling creative why not come along and make your own Christmas Decoration to take home and put on the tree (11am-3pm)!

Then come and visit Father Christmas in his Grotto who will be at Cromford Mills between 1-3pm. Tell him how good you’ve been this year and what you would like for Christmas! If you’re feeling really festive, why not come dressed as an elf or other Christmas character and enter the free prize draw!

Browse the Christmas Markets and discover perfect gifts for those hard to find presents for family and friends. Local artists will be exhibiting and selling a wide range of original products including textiles, jewellery, pottery and other handmade gifts. Enjoy our candy floss cart, fresh popcorn cart and snow cones. Why not treat yourself to an ice cream special where you have a choice of over 30 flavors and toppings! Roast chestnuts, mulled wine and mince pies will also be available to purchase from Arkwright’s Café.

A Christmas Plant Sale will be on from the 6th-10th December along with traditional Christmas wreath making workshops taking place during the weekend. Places for these workshops are limited and advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment on 01629 823256.

With so much to see and do, why not enjoy a delicious homemade lunch at Arkwright’s Café in the mill yard, or Wheatcroft’s Wharf Café. Visit the bespoke shops on site including the Christmas Shop, which offers a wide range of charity cards, festive food, calendars, diaries and Christmas decorations.

The events are part of a multi-million pound restoration of the Cromford Mills site funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £4 million. Other charitable donors towards the project include The Monument Trust, AIM Biffa Award, The Garfield Weston Foundation, J P Getty Jr Charitable Trust, Headley Trust, Sylvia Waddilove Foundation, The Wolfson Foundation, and the Architectural Heritage Fund.

The Christmas Weekend at Cromford Mills is free, although there will be a small charge for some of the activities. For further details please visit www.cromfordmills.org.uk or phone 01629 823256.
