College Restaurant Re-Opens To Diners

A popular restaurant at DCG’s Roundhouse Technical and Professional Skills college in Derby’s Pride Park is re-opening to the public with a series of monthly themed nights and Sunday lunches.

The Engine Shed restaurant is a training kitchen and restaurant for a wide range of full time students, apprentices and adults attending part time or short courses.

It has recently focused on providing work experience for Catering and Hospitality students by catering for special events and a lunchtime service for college staff and visitors.

The first themed evening on Friday October 25 between 6pm and 9pm will be inspired by French cuisine with a choice of three starters, main dishes, desserts and tea or coffee for £17.95 a head.

Dishes include chicken liver parfait on toasted ciabatta with red onion chutney, French onion soup or roasted goats cheese salad; beef bourguignon, confit of duck or fillet of bream main dishes; and a choice of desserts – apple tarte tatin, Drambuie crème brûlée or a French cheese board.

Further themed evenings will be held on the last Friday of each month (except December) and three course Sunday lunches will be served on the second Sunday of every month between 12 noon and 3pm.

DCG team manager Sue Sharratt explained: “The Engine Shed provides valuable on-site work experience for our students to better prepare them for the world of work.

“Having focused on catering for a busy calendar of events here at the Roundhouse, we are now in a position to re-open to the public and I am sure that these monthly evenings and Sunday lunches will again prove very popular with diners who appreciate high quality food at reasonable prices.”

Booking and pre-ordering from the menus is essential.  Please email Darryl-leigh.bailey@derby-college.ac.uk or call 0771 1000957.
