CQ Saturdays Street Circus

Unicycling, juggling and hula hooping are just some of the spectacles in store for visitors to Derby’s Cathedral Quarter on Saturday June 10.

CQ Saturdays Street Circus returns to the Waterfall stage in the Market Place with a host of free entertainment between 11am and 3pm.

Chango Fuego will keep proceedings moving at a furious pace interspersed with his own performances using fire, a unicycle and other unusual props.

He will be joined on June 10 by one of Europe’s greatest Hula Hoop artists Tiina Tuomisto from Finland with a vast repertoire of skills and contortions from a one-legged backbend while spinning a hoop around her ankle to balancing on a pair of handstand sticks.

Also joining the line-up is madcap entertainer Sam Davey who is particularly popular with children and is a master at juggling and diablo.

CQ Saturdays Street Circus is funded by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) and produced by outdoor performance specialists Déda Producing.

It is held on the second Saturday of every month to whet the appetite for Derby Festé which will be held in the city centre on Friday September 29 and Saturday September 30 with a strong circus feel this year.

The free CQ Saturdays Street Circus events join an already busy monthly programme of events and entertainment in the area. The Towers, Tunnels and Tales tours are held on the first Saturday of the month; Knickerbocker Glorious, in conjunction with Derby arts organisation Furthest from the Sea is held on the third Saturday and the last Saturday sees the return of CQ Saturdays Street Theatre with actors from Ashrow Theatre.

Information about all the events in the Cathedral Quarter are available at www.derbycathedralquarter.co.uk; on Twitter @DerbyCQ and Facebook CathedralQuarterDerby
