e-Scooter trials for Derby

E-scooter trials could be introduced into Derby from next month, as part of the Government Emergency Active Travel Fund to help encourage more people off public transport and onto greener alternatives, while getting back to work.

The trials of rental e-scooters will, says the Government, allow it to assess the benefits of e-scooters as well as their impact on public space, as Bondholder Derby City Council seeks to roll out Transforming Cities Fund.

Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, said: “During this crisis, millions of people have discovered cycling – whether for exercise or as a means of safe, socially-distanced transport. We know cars will continue to remain vital for many, but as we look to the future we must build a better country with greener travel habits, cleaner air and healthier communities.”
