Festive Leaflet Offers Prize Draw Bonus
Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have joined forces to produce a comprehensive leaflet showcasing the variety of entertainment and events taking place in the city centre this Christmas.
Beginning with the Christmas lights switch on event on Saturday November 14, there will be a huge range of street entertainment, markets, concerts and church services on offer as well as theatre performances, films and exhibitions throughout both BID areas. Much of this entertainment will be available free of charge.
Over 60,000 leaflets have been produced and will be distributed with the Derby Telegraph on Wednesday November 11 as well as in school book bags and through art boxes in locations throughout the city. They will also be available to businesses in both areas and will be handed out on the streets by the BIDs’ Ranger teams.
As well as the listing of events taking place in Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter over the festive period, the ‘Welcome to Christmas in Derby’ leaflet also contains a large map showing the location of venues, contact information for event venuesand details of all the surface and multi storey car parks, with parking available from as little as 90p an hour.
There is also the opportunity to win £500 worth of shopping vouchers to spend in shops in Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter. Simply fill in the voucher and return by Wednesday December 14 for the chance to win a special bonus before Christmas.
Martin Langsdale chairs the Cathedral Quarter Management Group, which drives forward activities under the area’s Business Improvement District (BID).
He said: “The Cathedral Quarter is the city centre’s premium retail destination, but visitors also want a wider experience and the choice of entertainment and events will be an important factor in people’s decision of where to go, especially at this time of year.
“We are pleased to have been able to produce the ‘Welcome to Christmas in Derby’ leaflet to help promote the wide range of events happening in Derby over the festive period and to highlight the range of quality venues we have in the area.Both BID’s have also funded a number of the street events and activities happening in the city centre this Christmas.
“I hope that this leaflet demonstrates that there is something for everyone in Derby this Christmas and will encourage more people to come to Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter to shop, dine out and enjoy time with family and friends.”
Stephen Jeffery, chair of St Peters Quarter Board, added: “We have worked hard to draw together the diverse menu of events and entertainment in these two areas in the coming weeks and the added bonus of the prize draw will hopefully encourage people to pick up the leaflets with the chance of winning £500 free shopping vouchers.
“This also helps illustrate the importance of the St Peters Quarter area which is located between Intu and Cathedral Quarter, and contains the city centre’s traditional high street and some excellent entertainment venues.”
