Florence Nightingale: A New Film

Florence Nightingale: A New Film

'Florence Nightingale : Scenes From A Life' is a digital film set for viewings from 12 May 2022.

Worldwide celebrations for Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday in 2020 were curtailed by pandemic restrictions. One casualty was a new play, 'Kissing Miss Nightingale's Shadow'. However, the team behind the play, decided they would not be beaten. The result is a new digital film that will be made available free of charge to Universities, Colleges, Nursing Schools and all Educational Establishments worldwide.

Writer, Director and Producer, George Gunby said “The pandemic has put nurses in the spotlight. One aim of the film is to inspire people to join a profession that is loved and respected worldwide. That's why the film is available free to educational establishments from 12th May 2022. The date has significance. It's not only Florence's birthday but also International Nurses Day.”

'Florence Nightingale : Scenes From A Life' not only highlights her role as the pioneer of modern nursing but also magnifies her life as a social reformer, statistician, feminist, theologian and mathematician. When she returned from the Crimean War in 1857 it was as the most famous woman in the world. Now, over 160 years later, her name and fame still resonate. During the pandemic emergency hospitals, test sites and vaccination centres operated under the Nightingale name.

'Florence Nightingale : Scenes From A Life' is in Preproduction with Principal Photography taking place in December 2021 / January 2022. The music has been written by Mat Williams and an exclusive song by John Tams is included.

“We are looking to raise the final £11500 of funding through crowdfunding, sponsorship and advertising,” said George Gunby.

'Florence Nightingale : Scenes From A Life' is a Belper Arts Festival Limited production in partnership with the University of Derby.
