Future of Heanor Site Set To Be Agreed

Derby College is set to make a decision imminently on the future sale of its former site in Mundy Street, Heanor, following the end of a six month nomination period.

The land was, earlier this year, included in a list of assets of community value nominated by Amber Valley Borough Council.  This period has allowed potential buyers, including the Heanor Grammar School Action Group, time to investigate options for the future use of the site and to develop bids.

The six-month period expires on October 27, and the following day the College will consider all offers for the site.

Derby College’s property agent Russell Rigby from Rigby & Co explained: “We have worked hard to assist the Action Group who have carried out extensive feasibility work on the building since March.

“The property has remained available for sale and in order to meet the needs of a number of prospective purchasers for the site, we have now called a date for receipt of final offers.

“There has been a significant upturn in the property market over the past few months which has resulted in widespread interest in the site for a wide variety of potential uses which will of course be subject to planning permission.”
