Have a heart for Hathersage fundraising exhibition

Organisers of an art exhibition in Hathersage in June are calling on local artists to help them boost their fundraising campaign.

The team behind the Heart For Hathersage initiative, which is aiming to create a multi-functional vibrant open space in the centre of the village, is planning an art exhibition in June at the Memorial Hall, to raise funds for the ambitious £400,000 project.

It already has work from a number of local artists but is looking for other creative minds to offer their paintings, installations and ceramics for exhibition which would then be auctioned off at the end of the event on Saturday June 6.

Exhibition organiser Alistair Cook said: "This is not only a great opportunity to profile your work to a new audience, but also to help our fundraising campaign. The village, and its amenities, attracts a huge footfall in the summer months and we expect visitor numbers to be high."

The Heart for Hathersage project, which has already been granted planning permission, aims to create a focal point in Hathersage with new public facilities and bus shelter, local displays, attractive public realm with seating and a focus on the heritage of the village through artwork and information.
