Derby Festé 2018 celebrates 250 years of Circus!

Details of this September’s 12th Derby Festé programme have now been revealed.

The city’s popular annual festival has been extended to three days for the first time this year – bringing a bag full of tricks and a sprinkling of magic to the city centre on Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September.

This year Derby Festé is inspired by the nationwide 250 years of Circus – marking the milestone anniversary of the first circus performance near London’s Waterloo in 1768 by showman Philip Astley.

heme announced for Hannells Darley Park Concert as Classic FM come on board

The hugely successful Hannells Darley Park Concert will once again be staged in the picturesque setting of Darley Park. It is one the UK’s biggest outdoor classical concerts and takes place on Sunday 2 September. This year’s event will be supported by Hannells, Flint Bishop Solicitors, HUUB, Invictus Communications, Mortgage Advice Bureau, PKF Cooper Parry, Redrow Homes and Stratstone BMW Derby.

An exciting opportunity at The LEVEL Centre in Rowsley.

LEVEL is seeking performers for the SENSE project to join our team to develop and tour this work.  We are looking for Physical Performers and Digital Performers (performers can also be a mix of both).

Physical Performers

You will need to have experience of physical performance, improvisation, character development through physical performance, devising non-narrative structures and be comfortable working with structured improvisation and interacting with audience/participants.

Moving on theatre who specialise in shows about artists with mental illness are bringing their best selling show “ María” the life loves and music of Callas to the Rotunda theatre 11th-13th July 

“ We are really excited to be performing in Buxton as this show is about the most famous opera singer of all time and we have been getting standing ovations and amazing feedback” says Laurene Hope Glory who recovered from Bpd in a therapeutic community on the NHS and has been running Moving on theatre since 2012 

Underground back above ground for 2018

Venue group Underground will be returning to the Old Clubhouse for this year’s Fringe to present another curated programme of professional theatre, comedy and music from across the UK, and around the world.

Pieter Egriega as Frank Sinistra in Sex & Drugs & PR

Pieter Egriega, was the 2016 winner of the Buxton Fringe award for the small music group and ensembles. 

Last year he was nominated for his unique piece entitled “Mr Different”, in which he emerges from a large laundry bag and conducts conversations with invisible passers-by, whilst accompanied by a small rumba band, who happen to be rehearsing/busking on a nearby industrial estate.

Brand new relationship drama comes to Buxton Fringe

A brand new drama exploring the joy and the pain of being in love is coming to Buxton Fringe. But here's the twist - it's completely improvised.

“Between Us” is a play which charts the ups and downs of one couple's relationship. The Sheffield-based performers use anecdotes from the audience to inspire the characters and perform their story.
