Ay up!

As many of you know, Black Shale is the Local Cultural Education Partnership that is based in Amber Valley, Bolsover & North East Derbyshire and is led by Platform Thirty1. Because we have spent the last couple of years in ‘many a garden’, we get to see and chat with the wealth of talent here on this patch on an almost daily basis. We know for many artists, creative educators, practitioners, young leaders and movers and shakers in the community there is a desire to come together more. So…. In response to this, we wanted to create a new kind of gathering! A relaxed, creative and cosy one, where we can nose around some local cultural venues, listen to other creative professionals and come together to get to have a look/chat ‘over the garden fence’ 

This is the first event and we’ve selected the Pottery in Alfreton, where potters Dave and Nic will give us a tour and be one of our 3 speakers on the night, in a rapid 15minutes sharing their journey, the bumps and proud moments too. This isn’t a shiny show and tell presentation- we will be exploring highs and lows and ways to navigate those trickier moments too. 

We are excited to reveal that other creative businesses that will be speaking on the night for a 15 min whistle stop tour are: ‘Katie Abey’, quirky illustrator extraordinaire & ‘Mama Jewls’ creator of artisan baby-proof jewellery
