June Newsletter - The Old Station Gallery

Forthcoming Solo Exhibition - Derbyshire Days Out - Landscapes by Deb Allitt
New Represented Fine Artist - Alison Tyldesley
July Solo Show - Pip Seymour

It's been an incredibly busy few weeks in the gallery preparing the building for Derbyshire Open Arts, it was a venue for the event showcasing the work of 21 Artists & Artisans. Now that the event is over they are excitedly getting the gallery ready for the next show.

In this months newsletter there is news about the forthcoming solo show by Fine artist Deb Allit, who was one of the Solo Show prize winners in the inaugural OSG Open in 2015. The gallery is currently closed whilst  Deb's work, which is directly linked to the beautiful Derbyshire landscape that surrounds us, is displayed. Deb says about her inspiration: ‘Days out in Derbyshire, walking and drawing, are a regular part of my life. I love the dramatic limestone of the White Peak, the villages, farm buildings, walls and fields. I also enjoy the softer character of trees and open farmlands in South Derbyshire. Real places are always the starting point and the inspiration for a painting, though the process of painting asserts itself powerfully once I actually begin painting. The colours, brush marks, the rhythm and feel of the painting itself is finally as important as the representation of a place.’

'Derbyshire Days Out - Landscapes by Deb Allitt' - opens on the 11th June and you are warmly invited to the opening of the show from 3-5pm. The show then continues until 6th July 2016.

In the Represented Artists space within the gallery there will be a selection of work by several Fine Artists and a new Fine Artist to the gallery - Alison Tyldesley. Alison has shown previously in two of the curated shows and there will now be a selection of Alison's work available throughout the year.

There are a selection of ceramics available in the second gallery space and there will be a range of Decorative Ceramics by Hilary Simms and Karen Banks. And Ceramic Homeware by Heather Duncan available.

Another forthcoming show beginning on 16th July is from Fine Artist Pip Seymour, exhibiting his work in a Solo Show at the gallery - 'The Moughton Mysteries'. The opening for this exhibition will be on the 23rd July 1-5pm, and there will be poetry readings during the afternoon from two poets whose work has close links to Pip's paintings.
