Lifeguards Qualify at Lonsdale Pool

The first group of 2016 have successfully gained their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification after a week-long course at Lonsdale swimming pool in Mickleover, Derby.
Lonsdale Pool organise regular training programmes for lifeguards throughout the year – training people who want to work at Lonsdale, its sister pool Gayton in Littleover and other facilities across the county.

Lonsdale Pool Manager Lynda Mangnall said: “The lifeguard courses are extremely popular with people of all ages and at different stages in their education and careers.
“Young people can combine lifeguarding with their studies at school and university and it is also great for parents returning to the workplace as they can juggle job and home commitments. “We are a charitable organisation which runs Lonsdale Pool and also manages Gayton Pool on behalf of Derby City Council and our timetable for clubs; swimming lesson’s school and public sessions are expanding all the time. “We are therefore always in need of lifeguards to replace young people as they move away and also those who progress onto their swimming teacher qualifications. “And we are looking ahead to the future as the Trust is looking for a new 1.5 acre site to build a new 25m eight-lane pool which will give us even more capacity and therefore create more lifeguard jobs.”

The next National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course will be held during the Easter holidays.  For more information, visit www.lsst.org.uk or email manager@lonsdalepooltrust.org.uk
