New Facilities for Headquarters Customers
A long-established hair salon in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter has adapted its premises to support customers with specific needs.
Headquarters salon, on the second floor of 49 Queen Street, has created a new private VIP room where customers with hair loss can have private consultations.
Owner Rosin Clarke has completed specialist training from celebrity hair stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE under his unique ‘My New Hair’ programme.
Rosin, a Senior State Registered hairdresser with 28 years’ salon experience, said: “I am increasingly asked about wig styling from local women who have suffered hair loss through illness or cancer treatment and decided I wanted to do this properly.
“The training with Trevor and his team was incredible and very moving. Although I am an experienced stylist, I learnt so much about the different types of hair used in wigs and how best to style them for individual customers’ requirements.
“The training has enabled me to offer advice and support for people experiencing medical hair loss and also help customers choose, buy and then find the right style for their own wigs.”
Rosin has also completed the level two British Sign Language training so that she can better support the city’s extensive deaf community.
The VIP room will be available to those and other customers who want more privacy or have medical conditions that require the separate consultation room.
She continued: “Derby has an established deaf community largely due to the continued success of the Royal School for the Deaf Derby and we have a number of hearing impaired customers.
“Good communication is vital for everyone in the service industries and I was keen to ensure that I am able to build a relationship with all my clients.
“The VIP room is available to all my customers for a small surcharge apart from those with medical conditions and it has been particularly welcomed by customers who have hearing impairments who struggle to communicate if there is background noise.”
Headquarters has been in the Rosin’s family for nearly 40 years and was based in the Market Hall until it expanded into new premises in Queen Street in 2012.
Rosin concluded: “I love this part of the city centre and was adamant that I wanted to stay in the Cathedral Quarter which has a real sense of community.
“The move to these premises five years ago has enabled us to expand our hair and beauty services and to take the business to the next level whilst staying true to our roots of offering a profession, competitively priced and friendly city centre salon.”
