New Mills Festival Launches Visual Arts Trail 2017

New Mills Festival is delighted to announce the start of the Festival Art Trail, which will see over a hundred and fifty artists from across the UK and abroad taking part.  The Trail forms part of the festival that is held in New Mills from the 8th to the 24th September 2017, celebrating and highlighting creative talent from across the region and beyond.

The Art Trail turns the town into a gallery, adding something a little bit special to the everyday shopping experience and attracting visitors from further afield to enjoy the artwork on show.  This year more than seventy local businesses will host artists’ work in their windows and premises.  Visitors will be treated to visual art including painting, drawing and photography alongside jewellery, carving, ceramics, installation, film and performance. From the traditional to the conceptual and abstract, there will be something of interest for a wide variety of tastes.

Our launch event on 8th September will feature a performance and film by artist Chris Dobrowolski entitled ‘All roads lead to Rome’ bringing together car mechanics, a road trip, dictators and the fetishisation of possessions. For tickets, please see our website at www.newmillsfestival.com
