New resi plans for Becketwell

Bondholder St James Securities has submitted revised plans for the city centre residential offer to be part of the £200m regeneration of Becketwell.

The new plan includes a larger building of 224 apartments over a maximum of ground plus 10 storeys, with a second smaller building of ground plus 4 storeys developed separately and fronting Green Lane and Victoria Street. It will also comprise a public square on the site of the current United Reformed Church.

Paul Morris, Director of St James Securities, said: “Our scheme has been the subject of careful re-design in consultation with potential funders and their belief is that given the continuing economic uncertainty in the wider UK market in general and the lack of precedent in the Derby market in particular, a scaled-back residential element on the first phase will prove the best market fit."

The planning application will be presented at the February planning committee meeting and will include a detailed application for the new square with an outline application for the two revised buildings.
