Open House At Broomfield Hall

Derby College’s Broomfield Hall will hold its annual open day on Sunday June 12 between 10am and 4pm with a wide range of family-friendly activities and demonstrations by students.

Visitors aged 13 and above will be able to have a go at driving a tractor and, for those who prefer to be a passenger, trailer rides will tour the grounds throughout the day.

Equestrian students will be showcasing their horse riding skills with displays between 11am and 2pm. Sheep shearing demonstrations will be held from 12 noon as well as cooking demonstrations by learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Meanwhile, family activities will include feeding the rare breed pigs, collecting eggs and working alongside Horticulture students.

There will be guided walks around the gardens as well as the opportunity to see the wide range of animals, reptiles and birds cared for by the students, the floristry and plant centre which are open to the public – run by the students - Little Explorers Day Nursery and the sports facilities.

Head of Broomfield Hall Eileen Swan explained: “Our annual open day is always very well attended and has something for all the family. “There are plenty of activities to join in with and the chance to find out more about the full and part time courses available at Broomfield Hall.
