Rams Ace Kicks Off Skills Challenge

Rams Ace Kicks Off Skills Challenge

Former Derby County Captain Shaun Barker and ambassador for specialist Derbyshire charity Safe and Sound has launched an online football challenge for young people eager to showcase their skills and to raise awareness of internet safety.

Shaun has produced a video for Safe and Sound’s social media channels  https://vimeo.com/432176695 - challenging young people to do as many keepy ups as they can and then post their skills online.

He said: “There has been widespread warnings about young people facing an increased risk of online grooming during lockdown which has obviously been worrying for us all.

“However, social media is also a very positive platform and, as an ambassador for Safe and Sound, I wanted to do something to help young people focus on something they can do at home or in the local park which they can share in a positive way online.

Safe and Sound chief executive Tracy Harrison said: “We are one of three local charities supported by Derby County Football Club so this challenge is very appropriate and I hope that Shaun’s involvement will encourage young people across the Rams community will rise to the keepy up challenge.

“This is designed to be a bit of fun but I hope that it will also encourage young people to think about how they use social media, who they talk to online and recognise the importance of increasing their privacy levels to stay safe on digital platforms.”
