South Yorkshire Poetry Festival (with some Derbyshire poets, and some events in Grindleford!)

Tuesday 16 May - Sunday 28 May 2017

As Ian McMillan announced at the 2015 festival, there is a poetry renaissance happening in South Yorkshire, and we’re inviting you to come along and be a part of it.

The South Yorkshire Poetry Festival is a series of poetry events in Sheffield and around South Yorkshire, with a varied programme of readings, performances, open mics and poetry walks. We’re building on the work of the 2015 festival in bringing poetry to a variety of venues across South Yorkshire, and bringing you poets that are well-known alongside those that are up-and-coming. This year’s festival includes award-winning poets Ian Duhig, Kate Fox, William Letford, Roy McFarlane, Helen Mort, Ruby Robinson and Katherine Towers. Click here for details of the full programme.

We are pleased to support a wide range of readings, performances, open mics, workshops and poetry walks across South Yorkshire, from a timely 'Politics Special' to a walk across Sheffield's bridges. We hope that the festival will be a meeting of local poetry communities, writers' groups and national voices, and a springboard for future festivals and literature events throughout South Yorkshire.
