Masterclass in Nature Writing with Mark Cocker. This is a four-hour masterclass, split over two consecutive Saturdays, exploring some of the techniques of nature writing. Paying careful attention to language, and to the power and importance of your initial observations.

Language And The Imagination - Poetry Course With Aoife Mannix

 

Language and the Imagination with Aoife Mannix. A 6-week poetry exploration using imagery and imagination, this course will help you develop your poetic voice.

Each week you will focus on a different aspect of using language and the imagination in poetic writing. You will read a poem closely for inspiration, undertake practical and fun writing exercises, share your work and receive constructive feedback on what you have written.

Ghosts of the Landscape

 

Ghosts of the Landscape is a new nature writing competition for young and adults writers, run by ourselves in partnership with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.

The prize is designed to raise awareness of the plight of Derbyshire’s moorlands, and the practices that have stripped the land of its wild inhabitants, including its crucial ability to capture carbon.

Derby Ram Trail Auction – last tickets on sale for the special price of £10!

People have flocked to the streets of Derby this summer to enjoy the fabulous Derby Ram Trail, which has been a Ramtastic success. Now, there is a chance to give one of the rams a forever home at the Ram Trail Auction, which takes place on 9 September and will be hosted by renowned auctioneer Charles Hanson.

The Guild of Fine Food: World Cheese Awards 2021

The next World Cheese Awards will be held in Oviedo, Spain, as part of the Asturias Paraíso Natural Internacional Cheese Festival from the 3rd – 6th November 2021.

Originally due to take place in 2020, the event has been rescheduled to ensure that the event takes place in the truly international spirit that it has engendered for over 30 years.
