Silent Auction Supports Déda Community Engagement

Derby-based painter John McDonald has donated one of his striking creations for a silent auction to support the community engagement programme at Déda – the city-based organisation that aims to enrich people’s lives through dance and the arts.

John McDonald’s celebrated painting ‘Butterfly Cry’ is part of a collection of striking and majestic portraits of Frida Kahlo – arguably Mexico’s most iconic artist – portraying loss, brokenness and the indomitable resilience of the human spirit.

Bright Friday at Croots Farm Shop to raise money for Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre

Staff at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire are naming this Friday Bright Friday and will donate 10% of takings to local charity Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre.

As many national and global retailers launch Black Friday sales, independent farm shop Croots has decided to mark the day by renaming Friday 23rd November as Bright Friday… and wants to raise much-needed funds for its adopted local charity.
