Graduating Students Become Part of the Furniture at Déda

The achievements of the first students to graduate from the University of Derby BA Hons Dance degree – based at regional dance house Déda in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter - have been honoured with the first seat plaque at the venue’s theatre.

The Dance degree was launched by the University and Déda in September 2014 and is the only one in the country to be based at a dance house with access to work experience at this and other arts partners’ venues.

Budding Authors And Actors Close Third Derby Book Festival

Students from Derby College who are recent arrivals to Derby from across the world have compiled a book of stories about the land of their birth, family memories and personal challenges.  The book was officially launched at the final event of this summer’s third Derby Book Festival.

The 28 young people, whose first language is not English, are on Derby College’s Lexis intensive language programme.

Construction Students Win Record Medal Tally

Construction students at Derby College won their largest tally of medals in the regional Skillbuild competition held recently at Leicester College.

Twelve Colleges from the Midlands and Yorkshire regions entered 77 students into the different competitions which included set tasks in Brickwork, Painting and Decorating, Joinery and Plastering.

Celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Derbyshire

In July the Rotary Club of Derby sees the start of its 100th year of existence. To launch this significant milestone year a fabulous concert will take place at Derby Cathedral on Saturday 8th July. The programme features one half of the internationally renowned Opera Babes, Karen England, with the well known and much admired Derbyshire choirs, The Dalesmen and The Derventio singing a selection of popular music.

In Derby is pleased to announce that Markeaton Park has been awarded TripAdvisor 2017 Certificate of Excellence based on the consistently great reviews earned by the park.

Derby’s most visited park currently has a 4.5 (out of 5) star rating on TripAdvisor gained from over 170 visitor reviews, with top comments about the park focusing on the paddling pool and the Craft Village.

HOT NEWS! THE CATHEDRAL QUARTER 3AAA CHRISTMAS ICE RINK TICKETS HAVE GONE ON SALE IN DERBY!

It might be summer, and the only ice that many are probably thinking about is in their drink, but Derby LIVE is pleased to announce that the Cathedral Quarter 3aaa Christmas Ice Rink tickets are now on sale. Opening for its 8th Year in Derby’s Market Place, the fun begins on 1 December 2017 and runs until 2 January 2018. Tickets are already on sale and are priced between £6.50 and £8.50, with concessions up to £7.50.

Derby Theatre to hold Peter Pan auditions for young people

Derby Theatre are looking for young people aged 9-16 to be in their big family-friendly production for the festive season, J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan adapted by Neil Bartlett.  
 
On Sunday 30 July, group auditions will be held for young people who are interested in appearing in the production, which will run in the Main House at Derby Theatre from Saturday 2 December until Saturday 6 January. 
 

No Hungry Kid - Derby

After a report was released claiming that children on Free School meals lose weight during the 6 weeks summer holiday, we are taking action. We aim to feed a minimum of 30 children that are entitled to free school meals this summer. For us to complete this objective we need the support of the community of Derby. We need -
