An Introduction to Poetry Film with Rebecca Goldsmith
Workshop
Join audiovisual poet and researcher Rebecca Goldsmith for an introduction to poetry filmmaking. Expect lots of creative reflection and discussion on the art form as well as a basic introduction to using a smartphone for poetry filmmaking. Explore techniques for lifting a poem from page to screen, and take inspiration from sound and visuals for new pieces of writing. Suitable for beginners and technophobes! This workshop will be held via ZOOM.
Rebecca Goldsmith works with poetry and film to create pieces that respond to space and place. She is an AHRC-funded PhD researcher at Keele University in collaboration with Writing West Midlands, the Birmingham Literature Festival, and the Centre for Place Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Alongside writing and filmmaking she has been variously a musician, lyricist, arts manager, and ambassador for creative engagement with children, young people, and communities.
