Artcore Newsflash

Artcore Newsflash

We here at Artcore wanted to reach out and hope that everyone is keeping safe and healthy in these very trying times. It is times like this when the arts and our community have needed to band together to get through it. While most of you are probably in self-isolation for the next two weeks or so and are in need of some beautiful arts and culture! As you might know, both our Albert Street and Charwood Street buildings are currently shut. We are trying to think of new and exciting ways to move all our activities online in a way that is engaging, reflective and thought-provoking for you. We are working to get things off the ground by next week and we thought we would share some of the ideas that are in the works.

Our gallery space is moving online as we introduce our first Virtual Tour of our current exhibition, Stand Up! as well as our first artist call out for a series of online exhibitions.

Our first call out, an initiative to respond to the social implications of this global crisis is titled; ‘In Isolation Together.’ We urge artists and creatives alike to reflect on this idea and we are excited to curate in this exciting medium of expression, the digital is now!

A lot of the work that we do supports and gives new platforms to artists that are community engaged and we work heavily with helping and facilitating the journeys of professional artists and participants forward. In order to maintain this, we are moving our workshops online with kits available to be ordered by you at our Art Shop, along with other art materials for DIY projects. We are launching our ecommerce shop, Craftcore and are accepting applications from artists and makers who would like to sell their work.

We aim not to discontinue but adapt and renew our part in showcasing, facilitating and enabling this creative process! There are also opportunities for artists who would like to lead online workshops and be part of our new program. We would love for you to keep checking our social media spaces (links below), sharing and commenting with any suggestions or thoughts that you have that could help us on this journey forward. Read on for more information on all the new and exciting ideas we are working on.

Thank you and stay safe!
