Ashbourne Festival 2016 art exhibition - call for artists

After record entries in 2015 the organisers of the Ashbourne Festival 2016 Summer Art Exhibition are on the look out for local artists to submit work for this year’s event. The exhibition is always a highlight of the Festival and, the quality of submitted work gets better and better every year.  As usual the exhibition will be a mix of excellent invited artists from Derbyshire and the region, plus local artists submitting their work.

The invited artists confirmed for this year are:

Painters -  Janet Mayled, Wendy Darker, Laine Tomkinson, Heather Duncan and David Manley
Wrought iron maker - David Turner
Furniture maker - Ian Saville
Jewellery designers - Ellia Designs

The exhibition will take place in Ashbourne Town Hall and will be open to the public, free of charge, from Saturday 18 June until Saturday 25 June 2016.  There are many talented local artists and this is a great opportunity for them to show their work. Previous exhibitions have attracted large numbers of visitors, with many pieces of work sold. Entries are welcome from any local artists who would like to be included, and the closing date for entries is 4 June 2016. All types of media including painting, drawing, photography, print, ceramics and sculpture are welcome.

A prize of £200 is being donated by St John Street Gallery to be awarded to the artist of the work judged to be best exhibited by an expert panel of local professional artists. A further prize of £50 will be awarded to the work judged best by popular ballot. Open entrants are encouraged to vote in this ballot, but not for themselves!

If you would like to show your work this year please get the entry details from the Ashbourne Festival website www.ashbournefestival.org or contact the Ashbourne Festival office on 01335 348707.
