Award-winning and Critically Acclaimed Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me) comes to Déda this June

Lost Dog, led by its highly accomplished Artistic Director Ben Duke, recently hit the jackpot with 5 star reviews and sold out audiences for its superb dance theatre production Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me). Nominated for the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Dance, the show comes to Déda for one night only on Thursday 9 June.

A one-man staging of John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, combining theatre, comedy and movement, this is a journey through the story of the creation of everything condensed into 75 minutes. Beginning with Lucifer’s rebellion and ending with Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden.  Ben Duke plays all the characters, creates all the scenes and, despite his best efforts, falls a little short of perfection.  

Duke has said “It’s a show for anyone who has created anything - child, garden, paper aeroplane - and then watched it spiral out of control”. Critically acclaimed and award-winning, this contemporary take on Milton’s classic has delighted audiences and critics alike.

Alongside its 5 star ratings, performer Ben Duke also won the National Dance Award for Outstanding Male Performance in January 2016 for Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me). Audiences can catch his unmissable performance at Déda on Thursday 9 June at 7.30pm. The show comes to Déda as part of Derby Book Festival; following the success of the first Derby Book Festival in June 2015, the second Festival will take place this summer from 3 – 11 June 2016.
