Destination Digital Marketing in Bakewell are looking to fill a digital marketing role that would suit someone who has graduated within the last 3 years.  Destination Digital are a digital marketing agency with an office in Bakewell, Derbyshire that offers a range of digital marketing services such as SEO, AdWords, social media management, email marketing, web design and traffic analysis to a range of clients from different industries across the UK. 

We work with organisations from a wide variety of sectors including hi-tech engineering, leisure, retail, accommodation, construction and education and approach all our client projects in a down to earth way. You may have heard of some of the brands we work with, that include a number of household brands such as HECK Sausages, Faith In Nature and Mr Fothergill’s Seeds, as well as well-known local companies such as HUUB Design and White Peak Distillery.

Job Vacancy!
We are seeking candidates who wish to experience becoming a part of a digital marketing agency, servicing multiple clients concurrently turning learned techniques into practical application.  You might be fresh out of University and are super keen to get started, or you are someone who graduated in the last couple of years.

Marketing agency working by default is a quick paced environment as we respond daily to client requests and new work.  Working across the aims of multiple individual businesses at the same time and responding to external influencing factors that crop up without warning is a key part of the job.  And so the ideal candidate for the job will be adaptable and comfortable accepting change.

This role can be adapted to suit a particular interest in digital marketing, so if you are interested in working across the full digital marketing mix or would like to explore a specialism such as social media management, ads management or SEO then please state this in your application, supporting this by outlining experience you already have in these realms.

We have many projects across many sectors of business and so can put together a programme of work that will both help us to move forwards as a business, but that will also enable the right candidate to absorb professional practice in a commercial environment.

Key Skills
We aren’t just filling space on this page when we say that an excellent command of the English language is necessary for this role. You will need to be able to demonstrate a second-to-none attention to detail in spelling and grammar, as well as a passion for writing… which comes along with a passion for reading.

Much of the job involves writing. You will be turning out copy every day, and so being able to creatively write, no matter which subject matter is put in front of you is a requirement of the job.

  • Strong creative writing skills are an absolute must; someone who is articulate with a good flair for creating engaging writing for digital publication.
  • Good attention to detail, pro-active and ability to self-manage workload.
  • The ability to interpret client needs and guide clients in decision making.
  • An understanding of the principles of SEO, and Content Management System experience.
  • A good grounding in the use of social media channels for marketing purposes.
  • Knowledge/experience using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Friendly and respectful, and a collaborative team player.
  • This role is for the office in Bakewell, Derbyshire in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.

You will get exposure to a real-life digital marketing agency and its daily operations.  Digital marketing ‘at the coal face’ employs many more skills other than learned digital marketing techniques.

Each of our clients are different in personality, in aims of their businesses and how they define success.  Responding to the different needs of our clients and putting that into practice through the outputs of their accounts requires someone who is comfortable communicating with people.  It is vital therefore that the successful candidate is happy to talk with people face to face and on the phone for those communications that simply cannot be dealt with by email.

Learned digital marketing techniques when put into practice often need to shape shift to enable us to achieve the aim of the client account and this requires the ability to think outside of a defined criteria. It is vital therefore that the successful candidate is able to look at the outcome that is required and change approach upon recognition that a certain approach just isn’t working.  This journey has the tangible outcome of experiencing cause and effect of action and how manipulating approach is sometimes necessary.

Ideal candidate profile
We are seeking candidates with experience of digital marketing skills.  This could be in the form of some or all of the following:

  • Use of different social media channels (as a user as a base requirement, but advertising experience would be a bonus)
  • Content management systems
  • Social media management systems
  • Google Ads or PPC platforms
  • Analytics platforms
  • Google products such as Google My Business, Google Merchant Centre, Google Search Console

With proficiency in some or all of the following:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Video editing software

Soft skills that are mandatory are:

  • Written communication skills – marketing is 99.9% writing!
  • Verbal communications skills
  • A good telephone manner
  • Willingness to openly communicate with people face to face, on the phone and via email
