Derby College Students Host Gordon Ramsay and Jenson Button

Students at Derby College's training kitchen and restaurant hosted more than 60 guests for the pre-dinner for the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon on Saturday night.

Guests included top chef Gordon Ramsay and F1 driver Jenson Button who were guests of honour at the dinner to celebrate the prestigious event being held in Derby for the first time on Sunday July 12.

Student chefs prepared the three-course dinner with courses including french onion soup, baked camembert, duck, chicken and salmon with puddings – brownies and fruit salad and lemon sorbet- served by members of the College Culinary Arts Academy

Gordon Ramsay told the students: “You have done a brilliant job tonight. Enjoy your days at College and you have obviously all got great careers ahead of you.”

Derby College Principal Mandie Stravino said: "I am extremely proud of the students who prepared and served a first class meal to the guests.  They showed that the skills the have gained here at Derby College have prepared them for careers in the hospitality industry and it was wonderful to gain such great feedback from Gordon Ramsay who was a charming and complimentary guest at this prestigious event."
