'A Different Kind of Painting'

An exhibition by two talented local artists, portraying the Derbyshire landscape like you've never seen before: fabulous photographs by Valerie Dalling and  awesome ceramic landscapes by Zoë Marsh.
The exhibition will show from August 6th to 18th.

More about the artists:

Valerie's 'Journeys Through The Landscape' continues…All her Peak District work is a natural progression, as she directs her focus on the rivers, the views, the history and the people of the area.
This exhibition is intended to give viewers a taste of how Valerie’s work is developing, her love of art, and with the camera as her paintbrush, how she’s drawn to the landscape through the effects of light on colour, shape and texture.

Zoë describes her work as 'Textile Ceramics' since the process that she has developed over the past few years has a strong textile influence. Indeed, each ceramic begins life as a collage of fabrics, wallpaper samples, old wrapping paper and the like. Even in the final stage, ceramic tiles are often combined with other media such as wire, driftwood, even Venetian smalti.
''I thrive on the tactile quality of the media I use. I love that people want to touch my work in order to understand the contrasting surfaces. Pattern, line and colour are equally important to me and this process allows me a quality of surface which I couldn't achieve with traditional glazes alone.''
Zoë is the winner of the Ashbourne Festival Art prize for 2017 and her ceramic landscapes and patterned paintings are pure magic and quite extraordinary.
