Feb deadline looms for Fringe entrants!

Fringe performers and exhibitors are being urged to enter this summer’s Buxton’s Fringe as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the specially discounted £50 entry fee available until February 29th.

Events are already building up fast for the festival which runs from July 1 to 19 2020. An already large Music section includes the High Peak Big Band, an eclectic mix of instruments from The Sette of Odde Volumes and classical songs and opera from Little Pixie Productions. Making a welcome return are favourites including Will Hawthorne, Annette Gregory, Partita, Ordsall A Cappella Singers, VociVoices and more.

Theatre treats include Illumin Arty’s art and theatre combo in Poole’s Cavern and Breathe Out Theatre’s Sylvia Vs the Fascists while in Comedy there is everything from a drag-infused musical comedy to Will Preston’s one-man exploration of gaming culture.

A new category, Fringe & Community brings together Fringe-organised occasions and community events such as Buxton’s Pride Picnic while For Families has been re-titled Children’s Events with Stone and Water back with more Tiny! crafts sessions in the park.

As ever the Fringe is good at throwing up surprises with this year’s programme also featuring an online-only audioplay and a writing retreat alongside many other treats in Spoken Word, Visual Arts and other categories.

With many more entries likely to come in before the closing date of April 19, new Fringe chair Stephen Walker says: “After the huge success of last year's Fringe40 celebrations, it is heartening to see that Buxton Fringe remains as popular as ever with performers and artists. Entries are shaping up nicely with an intriguing mix of old favourites returning and new shows to discover.”

Full details on how to enter are available under Take Part on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. Events are listed as soon as they enter offering participants useful early publicity. See the website’s What’s On pages or download the free Buxton Fringe App.
