Final push for the "New Arkwright Experience"!

With just about a week to go we now only have £1500 to raise towards the "new Arkwright Experience"!  Many thanks to all those of you who have already donated towards the film, and help us get so close to the target.

If you were planning to donate towards the fund but haven't yet been able to go on-line or visit the Mills please could you follow this link and DONATE now.

What the project is about:

We need your help to create a fantastic new visitor experience at Cromford Mills!

We have recently been given the opportunity to create an additional film in the space where we currently show the Arkwright Experience; the eight-minute film show about Sir Richard Arkwright.  The Arkwright Experience has been a huge success and our new project is an opportunity to build on this by creating and installing a second film to showcase further stories from the valley.

Our members and visitors have given us lots of feedback on what they would like us to include in the new show.  Based on this the new film will introduce the audience to Arkwright’s partner and neighbour, Jedidiah Strutt, and will highlight the coming together of these two innovative individuals, alongside the mill workers who will tell their version of the story.

We have applied to the AIM Biffa Award ‘History Makers – People Who Shaped Our World’ programme for £64,995 to create the new show.  This process involves securing an additional 10% funding ourselves by February payable to Biffa Waste Services Ltd to release the £65,000 grant.  Without this 10% we will be unable to accept the full grant.  So far, we have raised over £5,000 and your help could make all the difference to raising the final £1,500 needed.

You can donate online through this link: www.cromfordmills.org.uk/donate or by getting in touch with Hannah Steggles, Head of Heritage, directly to find out more about the project.  If you are willing to pledge over £100 to this cause, then we will include your name on the credits of the film as recognition of your contribution.

Thank you very much for any support you can offer.  This is really a unique situation and a great opportunity which we want to be able to grasp.  Your contribution will be a massive support.
