Jenson Button Trust Triathlon Announces Team Challenge + Exclusive Hotel Partner

Jenson Button Trust Triathlon Announces Team Challenge

The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon has confirmed that a Team Challenge has been launched – thanks to sponsorship from Midlands business advisors and accountants Smith Cooper.

Teams of three people (either all male, all female or mixed) can enter the Team Challenge as part of the Triathlon on Sunday July 12th by visiting www.jensonbuttontri.com.

Each member will tackle one of the three Triathlon stages. The team challenge will consist of the first person swimming 200m, then handing over to their teammate who will cycle 10km and finally the third member completing a 2.5km run. Each team will get to race twice – once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Team members will all receive a medal and a goody bag as well as one signed race T-shirt per team from Jenson Button, which they can display in their workplace or home.

A special VIP and corporate tent will be erected in the event village on the park where team members can relax, enjoy a post-race massage and soak in the atmosphere with food, drink, live music and prizes to be presented by Jenson Button.

Team entry will cost £250 and competitors are encouraged to raise as much money as possible between them for the Triathlon’s official charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

Dean Jackson from event organisers, Derby-based HUUB Events, explained: “We are very excited to be opening up this fantastic event to teams of three people.

“This will mean that groups of friends or work colleagues can join together and play to their own individual strengths to compete alongside amateur and professional triathletes including Jenson Button himself.

“The response from the Derby business community to support this event has been incredible and we are delighted that Smith Cooper have agreed to sponsor the Team Challenge.

“Their support has enabled the additional support on the day required to ensure smooth transitions between the stages, the VIP area in the event village for team members and will ensure that the profits and funds raised will all go to Cancer Research UK which is the Jenson Button Trust’s partner charity.”

David Nelson from Smith Cooper added: “When HUUB Events first announced that they had brought the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon to Derby, the buzz around the city’s business community was whether there would be a Team Challenge.

“The prospect of competing in all three stages of a Triathlon may be daunting for some and we were keen to secure the Team Challenge as part of this event which will widen the scope for local sports enthusiasts to come together and compete.

“As a firm, we are planning to enter a team and I am sure that many other businesses and groups of friends will follow suit.  Entries will be on a first-come, first-serve basis as there are limited team places available so I would encourage those interested to secure their plans and register early.”
