This amazing concert is the culmination of a workshop weekend of Klezmer music, and brings top international performers of Klezmer music and Yiddish song to Youlgrave, near Bakewell. We don’t always have the time to sit back, and listen to performers of this calibre, hailing from Brighton to Fife, though originally from USA to USSR!. This public concert showcases the wonderful world of Klezmer. You will hear Merlin Shepherd, Polina Shepherd, Michael Alpert and more……
Michael Alpert http://www.michaelalpert.org is a US Klezmer expert and fiddle player; has performed and taught Yiddish music and culture worldwide; is an award winning teacher and researcher of Yiddish traditional dance.
Merlin Shepherd https://sklambergandtheshepherds.wordpress.com/merlin-shepherd/ specialises in clarinet adapting it to differing Klezmer music styles (from the traditional to the new); Merlin also has a unique musical voice; a leader of several Klezmer and other bands.
Polina Shepherd https://www.polinashepherd.co.uk/ - an internationally renowned singer/performer; experienced educator and choir leader and song tutor for international Jewish events; expert in Jewish, Russian and Yiddish song and the moving sounds of eastern Europe.
